EXPERTISE, DRAFTING, CORRECTION OF FOOD LABELLING
- Food labelling means the words, particulars, pictorial matter, trademark, registered trade name, symbol relating to a foodstuff, as appearing on the packaging, on a document or leaflet, or on a label. The labelling information provided must not mislead the consumer and must help him to make a choice between food products.
- The responsibility for providing correct food information rests with the entity under whose name or business name the food is marketed or, if that entity is not established in the European Union, with the importer on the EU market.
- The way in which labelling information will be required depends on whether the food is pre-packaged or loose, whether it is sold in a physical shop or online, etc.
- There is a whole range of general specific legislation governing the labelling of individual food products, which causes a number of concerns for food businesses.
